We were working in the shelter, it was raining. The dogs in the shelter were barking very loudly, so I went to check out the front to see what was going on. Then I heard helpless meowing in the grass next to our shelter.

It’s interesting to note the differences in character between the 3 kittens, apart from the obviously precarious state of health.
